Same Sounds: Isolating Initial, Medial, and Final Sounds

"Same Sounds" is a great activity for isolating initial, medial, and final sounds (aka Common Core standards:  CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.K.2.D and CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.1.2.C).

Students will sort and stack cards that have pictures with the same FIRST sounds, same MIDDLE sounds, and same LAST sounds onto the “Same Sounds” mat.

There are 36 sorting cards:  12 same FIRST sound cards, 12 same MIDDLE sound cards, and 12 same LAST sound cards.
