Four Types Of Sentences Charts

Monday, June 18, 2012
Today I attended a great ELA Common Core training.  One of our presenters said that we should use the correct terminology when talking about the four types of sentences with our first grade students.  I usually refer to sentences as "asking sentences or telling sentences" or a question or sentence that uses an exclamation mark, etc.  I always think its a good idea to expose the students to correct terms and LOVE to hear their little voices use such big words.  I came home with a list of things to do from my training and making charts for declarative, imperative, exclamatory and interrogative sentences was on it.  Here's what I came up with:

  2. Thanks for these...so cute! I, too, have a reading series which calls proper nouns 'special nouns'. They are special only because no one else on the planet calls them that!

  9. My students are creating a Grammar book that they can keep for years to come. Do you have these so that they are smaller? We are using a generic composition book to cut and past things into and these are so adorable, but too large to fit in the book.
