Pete The Cat AKA The "Blue Cat" Daily Five Signs

I've just added a new item to Teachers Pay Teachershttps://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Cindy-Gilchrist! This item includes TWO sets of Daily Five posters with our friend, Pete The Cat (AKA The "Blue Cat") since we are not to refer to him by name on Teachers Pay Teachers :)

One set of posters has blue and red chevron backgrounds and the other set has colorful chevron backgrounds. You choose - both sets are included!!!

Oops!!! That should say:

~~Pete~~ The BLUE Cat Awesome Adjectives Pack!!! Can't use the name anymore due to a Cease and Desist notification from the author. He no longer allows anyone to use the actual name on any products (free or paid). So, I have revised my Awesome Adjectives Pack from last year and have it available again on Teachers Pay Teachers!!! I like it even BETTER now! Best of all, it's only $1.00!!! Woo-Hoo!

Everything you need to make a class book of awesome adjectives!

The Cover

Inside Pages - Print one page per student. Have them write an adjective and color to describe the shoes, then color the shoes to match. (A list of adjectives and colors is included or you can have your class brainstorm together and generate a list of your own!)

I cut them out (just quickly cut them out in squares/straight lines) and gave each student a shoe to color and had them cut out around the edges. We used them as a border for a poster we made - you could make a bulletin board out of these pages and use extra shoes as a bulletin board border.

Pete the Cat & Children's Book Week

Last week was Children's Book Week. I LOVE Children's Book Week - our Media Specialist is AWESOME and she makes it FUN! I was THRILLED to find out that my class won the door decorating contast held on Friday and we got a $50 gift certificate to the Book Fair - Yay!!!!!! We had to decorate our door to reflect our favorite book. It was a no-brainer! I took these photos a few days after the contest. I also had a table out by my door with a laptop, Pete the Cat book, Pete the Cat doll and a "take one" bucket with hearts my class made (see below). On the laptop, we had a music video playing that my class made to "Rocking In My School Shoes". Here's the video:

I was very lucky to be asked to be a guest reader on Monday for Children's Book Week and I asked if I could bring a few friends along to help with the story :) The video is a ~~little~~ very grainy, but here it is:

This week we had a special visitor at our school: JACK HARTMANN!!!!

One of my little angels hugged him and immediately said "I'll never wash this hand again!" TOO funny :)

Edited 0n 7/2012 to add that TPT had to remove all of their "Pete" items due to a "Cease & Desist notification for all items that use the Pete the Cat name and images :(

So......I have revised this pack and now have it back in my store at Teachers Pay Teachers. It does not reference "Pete". But if you read the book, your students will certainly know who it is and will LOVE the activity!!!!

This download contains:

1. Awesome Adjectives (We Love Our Colorful Shoes) Book Cover

2. A list of adjectives/colors. The enclosed list was the result of a class activity from my class so you can use this list or have your class come up with their own. We discussed color words and brainstormed adjectives as a class. Then I typed a list of our ideas, printed it and cut them out so each child could pick one out of a bucket to write on their “I love my -------- shoes!” page.

3. Student pages - Print one page per student. Each child fills in their adjective and color word and colors the shoes at the bottom of the page to match.

4. Last page/inside of back cover.

5-6. Shoes - There are two sizes of extra shoes if you would like to use them for something. I used the smaller shoes as a border (if you wanted to display the pages on a bulletin board instead of making a class book).

7-11. Bonus - Make a “Blue Cat” craft! Templates, printables, and instructions included.
