I've got a Spaceman Freebie but first, I have some new products added to my Teachers Pay Teachers store:

⤤ SUPER EASY to implement - GREAT for the first weeks of school!!!!

Click on the pictures to check them out or click HERE to visit my Teachers Pay Teachers store and click HERE to get a FREE kit each month!!

Wonder how many times I've had to remind students to use spaces between words when writing?  Maybe a million!  I've been wanting some "spacemen" to help students remember to use those spaces, so I decided to make some.

If you would like to make some too, I have a free download for you right here:
{Click here or on the picture to download}

BTW, I post a lot of freebies on my blog -  if you don't want to miss any of them, make sure to click on this button follow me on bloglovin':

There are a couple of ways to do this - the easiest would be to print on cardstock, laminate, and cut into strips.  They can be used this way, might get a little worn after a while but it would be easy enough to replace them each school year.

To make them super sturdy,  I wanted to make mine to fit on large craft sticks (the kind sized
6 inches x 3/4 inch).  I bought these at Walmart:

I tried using Mod Podge at first, and that worked good,

but I realized I had a MUCH easier way to do it so I broke out my trusty Xyron machine with the laminate/permanent adhesive cartridge:

This:

That's the smaller one, that works just as good, I have the larger one here:

I got mine years ago and it's a lot cheaper now!

I loaded in the printout of Spacemen...

and out they came, laminated with permanent adhesive on the back.

Then I just cut out on the lines (I used my paper cutter) and peeled the backing off to stick on the craft stick.

I have these sized to fit the craft sticks exactly with just a little extra on the top and bottom.

I made that extra space on purpose - here's a little trick to trim off that top and bottom and make it perfectly molded to the stick.  Use a fingernail file!  Just use a downward motion pressing the file to the stick where the paper is hanging over.  It files the paper and laminate away and shapes it to the edges of the stick:

Now they are ready to use!!

Pete The Cat Awesome Adjectives Pack! I LOVE My Colorful Shoes!

Oops!!!  That should say:

Pete The BLUE Cat Awesome Adjectives Pack!!!  Can't use the name anymore due to a Cease and Desist notification from the author.  He no longer allows anyone to use the actual name on any products (free or paid).  So, I have revised my Awesome Adjectives Pack from last year and have it available again on Teachers Pay Teachers!!!  I like it even BETTER now!  Best of all, it's only $1.00!!!  Woo-Hoo!

Everything you need to make a class book of awesome adjectives!

The Cover

Inside Pages - Print one page per student.  Have them write an adjective and color to describe the shoes, then color the shoes to match.  (A list of adjectives and colors is included or you can have your class brainstorm together and generate a list of your own!)

The Last Page of the book:)

Here are a few examples:

This pack also includes extra shoe patterns:

I cut them out (just quickly cut them out in squares/straight lines) and gave each student a shoe to color and had them cut out around the edges.  We used them as a border for a poster we made - you could make a bulletin board out of these pages and use extra shoes as a bulletin board border.

Also included - A Cat Craft!  Templates, printables and instructions are included to make a cat like this:

Also, if you like this kit, make sure to check out my "Blue Cat" Daily Five Posters:

Visual Direction Cues For Your Whiteboard - FREEBIE

Sunday, August 3, 2014 1 comment

Ever feel like you have to repeat directions 10 times for some student to "get it"?  A few years ago I saw a great tip for putting images on the board that lists the steps to follow.  When I do a coloring/cutting/gluing task with my class, I usually have a specific order I want them to follow.  It could be name first, then color, then cut, then glue.  Or...name, color, cut.  Anyway, I use this clip art to put on the board so the students can look up and remember what they are supposed to do and the order to do it in.  All you need to do is:

1.  Print out the images - on cardstock if possible.
2.  Cut around the images.
3.  Laminate (don't have to, but they hold up better if you do because you'll move them around a lot).
4.  Stick magnets to the back.  I save magnets that I get for free - the flat magnets like this:

In fact, we get these at school a lot - things in the mailroom, when folks come to visit and leave promotional materials for teachers and/or the students.  So I cut these up and use my hot glue gun to glue them to the back of the laminated images.

There are different options for using these:

With the numbers...

With the names....

With both.
Or, you could just use the photos :)

ALSO-

Don't forget about my raffle going on to win a Three Month Subscription to FarFaria!  This would be AWESOME to have at the beginning of the school year.  You can pick a book, project it on your document camera and it will read the book to the class while you run around and put up school supplies :) :) :)
